Queen of Me, answering first and foremost to myself. It seems such an obvious thing, but I think women, in particular, get the message early on that their value is bound up in being compliant and sweet. I have no problem with sweetness and I don’t even mind compliance as long as we’re allowed to run it through our own filters first. We should be allowed to trust our guts and show our feelings and play our own hand.
