Being Part of Research: What to Expect Toolkit

Being Part of Research: What to Expect Toolkit

£10.00

The Background

This toolkit has been co-created over the course of a year with individuals from diverse and often underrepresented backgrounds in research, including but not limited to experiences of street homelessness, addiction, PTSD, sex work, incarceration, and seeking refugee or asylum status.

Although dementia was the primary focus of the NIHR project, understanding who is at greater risk requires improving longer-term research methods to include all members of society, ensuring that everyone is represented.

The ComPHAD team (Community and Public Health Approaches to Dementia Research) have worked extensively with illustrator Rosie Johnson to create an accessible set of materials to help explain what research is for, how it is carried out and how participation can help individuals and communities.

The toolkit has been reviewed and refined with lived experience experts and input from academics and Professors from across the UK, including Professor Carol Brayne CBE who pioneered the study of dementia in the population.

The Essential Bit

Dr Nicole Thomas retains all text copyright and Rosie Johnson retains all image copyright HOWEVER... rather than put this toolkit behind a very expensive paywall, we wanted to make it available to researchers and institutions to use. All we ask is a small donation, and tiny bit of information about how you intend to use it so we can understand who is using the toolkit and why. In addition:

• All files are PDFs. We've created a file specifically for you to add your own QR code linking to your webpage/ survey.

• Please DO NOT alter the files in any other way.

• This purchase entitles you to download and print the materials for ONE research project. Please do not duplicate or share. We have deliberately kept the cost low to make it affordable for everyone. If you know of other researchers who may find this useful, please direct them here. Every purchase will allow us to donate to Dementia Research UK.

If you would like bespoke illustrations for your research project or have any queries regarding the images/rights please email rosiejohnsonillustrates@gmail.com

For any queries about the research or text please email Nicole at healthresearchtoolkit@gmail.com

By downloading this toolkit you agree to the terms above.
